A photoshoot with Lori Ackerman Photography is a collaboration between the client, the photographer, and of course, the pet.  We want to make sure that you have a luxurious, satisfying experience and that you end up with artwork that celebrates you and your pet.  The process from start to finish is:

The Consultation

We will meet by phone, Zoom, or in person, whichever works best for you to plan your session

The Photoshoot

In your home or on location, we want this to be fun for you and your pet.  A shoot may last an hour or longer, depending on the comfort level of your pet.

The Ordering Session

My favorite part!  First  a slideshow of your images and then we’ll create your art and album.  My guidance makes this a fun and easy experience.  There might be chocolate too!

Delivery Day

We deliver or you pick up and you can enjoy your artwork and memories for years to come.

You have questions and we have answers!

The most common question and concern is about leashes for dogs and halters for horses.  Most pets have a leash or halter, and I am an expert at removing them in post!

What should you do to prepare for your pet’s photo session?

Help your pet look its best with a good grooming!  Some only need a good brushing while others can benefit from seeing a groomer.  If you need a recommendation, let me know – I work with some great pet professionals.  Horses and their tack should look polished to get the best images.

Some high energy pets can benefit from a walk before the session.

Choose your outfit if you would like to be in some of the photos.  I love to show the bond between you and your pet.

What should you bring to the session?

-If you would like any collars or tack to remain in the photos, bring your favorites.

-Your pet’s favorite treats.

-A brush for touch ups.

-Some of your pet’s favorite toys, or any equipment you would need for action shots (frisbee, ball, jumps, etc.).

What time of day is best?

If the session is outside, a little after sunrise or a little before sunset is generally best.  If we are inside, then we will look at how the light hits your windows and determine the best time.

Do you travel for shoots?

I will pretty much go anywhere for your photo session.  I love an adventure!

What if it rains?

Unless there is something specific that you are looking for,  we will reschedule.  If it snows, that can be an awesome opportunity for unique pictures!  I only book a few clients a week so that I can be flexible and give you all my attention.

What is included in the session fee?

Your $400 session fee is a non-refundable retainer that becomes a $200 print credit at your ordering session.  It includes the initial consultation, the photoshoot, editing, and the session to choose and design your artwork.  There may even be some chocolate thrown in there too.

Can my family be in the photos?

Of course! I love to showcase the bond between pets and their families.

How do I book a session?

You can use the contact button, email, call or Facebook message.  All bookings are made after the consultation phone call to make sure that I am the right photographer for you and so that we can make sure to get the details and planning right.
